Unit 1 lesson 1 vocabulary

TermDefinition
Compass rose A symbol that shows the main directions on a map
Line of latitude An imaginary line that runs east-west around the Earth
Line of longitude an imaginary line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole
Absolute location The exact location of a place on Earth using degrees north or south and east or west
Equator the line of latitude that circles the middle of the Earth
Prime Meridian Earth’s main line of longitude
