Judicial Branch
| Term | Definition |

| Supreme Court | Reviews decisions made in civil and criminal cases by a trial court or by the Court of Appeals. |
| Court of Appeals | The court of first review for many civil and criminal cases heard by the trial courts. |
| Superior Court | Hear both civil and criminal cases. |
| State Court | Exercise limited jurisdiction within one county. |
| Probate Court | Deals with wills and the estates of deceased(dead) persons. |
| Grand Jury | A group of citizens chosen from among eligible voters in a county or judicial circuit.` |
| Magistrate Court | Limited jurisdiction county courts that issue warrants, hear minor criminal offenses, and hear civil cases involving amounts of $15,000 or less. |
| Muncipal Court | Handle traffic offenses, and violations of local regulations, to issue warrants, and in some instances, to hear misdemeanor cases such as shoplifting and possesion of marijuana. |
