TermDefinition
city-state an early city that was like a small, independent country with its own laws and goverment.
monarch a single ruler, such as a king,queen,or empire, who holds all the power in a country or empire.
oligarch one of several people who rule a country or empire together, sharing the power.
tyrant a person who seizes power illegally.
democrocy a form of goverment in which the ruling power is shared by all citizens.
aristocrat a member of the most powerful class in ancient greek society.
citizen a member of a democrocy, who has certain rights and responsibilities.
assembly a group of citezens in an ancient Greeks democrocy with the power to pass laws.
