TermDefinition
universal time the time at the royal Greenwich observitory
degrees the coordinates of all 360 lines of longitude
meridian Another name for a line of longitude
time zones a region on Earth that has specific time assigned to it
latitude and longitude lines lines that run across the Earth and can tell you the exact location of a place
scale a map to real world compairsion of how far away something is
compass rose a symbol on the map that shows you all the directions
labels things that tell us what a name means on the map
legend the thing that tells you what symbols mean on a map
symbols pictures that represent something on a map
historical maps maps that show movements of bordors
political maps maps that show borders of areas
physical maps maps that show natural features
maps a representation of the Earth's surface
Longitude Lines that run north to south and measure distances east and west of the prime meridian
Prime meridian The zero degree longitude line
Latitude Lines that run east to west and measure distances north and south of the equator
Equator the zero degree latitude line
North pole the pole 90 degrees north of the equator
south pole the pole 90 degrees south of the equator
minutes lines that can give you an even more precise location than regular longitude and latitude lines
Seconds lines that give you an even more precise location than minute lines
GPS A device that figures out your coordinates
