| Term | Definition |

| Plain- | a flat or gently rolling area of land with only moderate changes in elevation. |
| Tributary | A stream or river that flows into a main stream (lake or river.) |
| Glacier | large, long-lasting river of slow-moving ice on land. Glaciers helped to create many of the land forms on the planet. |
| Strait | a narrow passage of water connecting two seas or two large areas of water. |
| Island | An area of land completely surrounded by water. |
| Peninsula | a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water. |
| Plateau | an area of relatively level high ground. |
| Isthmus | a narrow strip of land with water on both sides that joins two larger land masses. |
| Delta | its low watery land formed at the mouth of a river. its formed with the sand and small rocks that flow downstream. |
| Floodplain | an area of low-lying ground adjacent to a river, formed mainly of river sediments and subject to flooding. |
| Rift | A crack, break or split in something |
| Archipelago | a group of islands or a cluster of islands usually found in the open sea. They can be formed by erosion but most often occur as the result of volcanic activity. |
| Bog | A wet, soft ground, to heavy to support anything heavy. |
| Fjrod | a narrow inlet of the sea between high cliffs or banks. Fjords were created by glaciers. |
