TermDefinition
Plain an extensive area of level or rolling treeless country
Tributary a stream leading to a larger stream or a lake
Glacier large body of ice moving slowly down a slope or valley or spreading outward on a land surface
Strait a passageway of water connecting two larger bodies of water
Island a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides
Peninsula a portion of land surrounded by water on 3 sides
Plateau a large flat area of land that is higher than other areas of land that surround it
Isthmus a narrow strip of land connecting two larger areas of land
Delta a piece of land shaped like a triangle that is formed when a river splits into smaller rivers before it flows into an ocean
Floodplain a level land that is usally submergred in floodwater
Rift split or crack in the earths surface
Archipelago a group of scattered islands
Bog wet spongy ground, a poorly drained usually acid area rich in plant material, frequently surrounding a body of water
Fjord a narrow inlet of the sea between cliffs or steep hills
