| Plain | A large area of flat or rolling treeless country |
| Tributary | A river that runs into a larger river or lake |
| Glacier | A large piece of ice moving slowly down a slope, valley or spreading out on land. |
| Strait | A narrow passageway connecting two large bodies of water |
| Island | A small body of land surrounded completely by water and smaller than a conitinent |
| Peninsula | A piece of land jutting out into the water but connected to another body of land |
| Plateau | A large area of land that is raised above the land around it |
| Isthmus | A narrow strip of land connecting two larger land areas |
| Delta | The mineral deposit at the mouth of a river |
| Floodplain | A plain that was built up by stream deposits |
| Rift | An area of land that is divided or split |
| Archipelago | A group of islands |
| Bog | An area with wet, spongy ground that is poorly drained, has good soil and a lot of plant mateial |
| Fjord | A narrow area of sea between cliffs or steep slopes |
