The formation of Government

TermDefinition
Unitary government All the key powers given to central or natural govt
Federal government Divides power between naional and state govts.
Confederate government Power held in individual state govts.
Three main purposes of a constitution a. Sets out ideas shared by the people b. Establishes basic structure of govt. c. Provides supreme law for the country
Is a constitutional govt. limited or unlimited? Limited, constitution is in place specifically to limit the power of those who govern
What is the purpose of the preamble? Set fourth the goals and purposes of the government
What is politics? The efoort to take control or influence the govt.
Why is participation in politics important? Conflicts in society are managed
What does it mean for the govt. to " Promote the general welfare" Govt. should operate in the interests of all the people.
