13th Amendment Stopped slavery in the US for good.
Black Codes Denied blacks the right to have certain jobs, own guns, vote, and to be a juror.
Freedman's Bureau An establishment to help 4 million blacks after war. They even built a black school and hospital.
Andrew Johnson Vice President who took over office after Lincoln was assassinated.
Washington, DC Where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.
Reconstruction The rebuilding of a city or town.
Segregation The separation of blacks and whites.
Share Cropping Rented land were a portion of the money earned was given to the owner of the plantation.
Jim Crow Laws Blacks can not eat or stay at certain places and could not sit next to whites or go to certain parks, schools, and theaters.
Impeachment The charges of wrong doing of an elected official by the House of Representatives.
15th Amendment Gave black males the right to vote.
14th Amendment Said blacks were citizens and all states had to give equal protection.
