3. Civil Rights Act of 1875 Promised African Americans the use of trains and public facilities like hotels.
4. Reservation Special areas set apart by the government where Indians were aloud to live.
5. Sand Creek Massacre Where Commanding Officer, John Chivington, opened fire of a allied group of Cheyenne Indians.
6. Battle of Little Big Horn In June 1876, George Cluster and all of his men were killed. Unexpected. Out numbered almost 10 to 1.
7. Wounded Knee The location the Ghost Dance War took place sealing the downfall of Indians.
8. Assimilate Adopting the culture and ways of another kind of people.
9. Dawes General Allotment Act Stated that the Indians were not a different country than the United States. They were United State citizens. (Used to progress Assimilation.)
10. Vigilante Self appointed Law-breaking busters!
11. Transcontinental Railroad A railroad that stretched from the East to the West coast.
12. Land Grant Giving someone a large stretch of land. Used to give Railroad builders the land to expand the Railroad.
13. Open Range System System in which the land was not fenced in and Animals were identifies by their brands.
14. Homestead Act Government offered 160 acres of land to however wanted to live there for a while, build and well, and build a road.
15. Exodusters An organized group of African Americans who set out to take advantage of the Homestead Act and start new lives.
