| Mesoamerica | A region that stretches from modern-day Mexico to Nicaragua. |
| Maya | Ancient Native American civilization that developed in what is now Mexico. |
| Inca | Native Americans civilization that developed in what is now Peru. |
| Aztec | Native American civilization that spread through what is now Mexico. |
| Pueblo | Native Americans who build great mud-brick cities. |
| Migrate | To move from one region to another. |
| Society | Groups of people with common interests, customs, and ways of life. |
| Civilzation | Complex society in which people share key characteristics such as language and religion. |
| Slash-and-burn | Process of clearing land by cutting down and burning trees. |
