Vocabulary for Georgia's Geography

TermDefinition
Landform one of the shapes of land found on the earth
Region an area that has some shared feature
Coast the land next to a sea or an ocean
Plateau an area of fairly flat high land
Ridge a long, narrow strip of high land
River a large body of water that flows into a lake, an ocean, or another body of water
Mountain high land with steep sides
Valley the low land between mountains or hills
Coastal Plain the largest region in Georgia, this region is along the coast
Piedmont the region in which we live, the most populated region
Blue Ridge Mountains the highest land in Georgia
Appalachian Plateau a small corner of northwest Georgia, this region contains Lookout Mountain
Valley and Ridge rocky ridge land that contains forests
