immigrant person who comes to live in a country from some other place
constitution the plan for the federal government, it describes the rights that people in the U.S. have and it is the "supreme law of the land"
Representative democracy a system of government in which citizens elect representatives or leaders to make decisions about the laws for all the people.
culture a way of life
responsibility something that a person should do, for example, obeying traffic signs and voting
right a freedom that belongs to you. For example
congress the legislative branch of the federal government.
ethnic group group made up of people of the same race, or people with a common way of life
tax money that a government collects from its citizens
executive branch a branch of the federal government. Its main job is to see that the laws passed by Congress are carried out.
supreme court the highest court in the country
