| Mass | A measure of the amount of matter in an object. |
| Weight | A measure of how gravity pulls on an object. |
| Volume | A measure of how much space an object takes up. |
| Matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space. |
| Surface Tension | The skin that forms on the surface of water. |
| States of Matter | Liquid, Gas, and Solid. |
| Density | The amount of mass for each cm 3 (or mL) of a substance. |
| Buoyancy | The resistance to sinking. |
| Element | A material that cannot be broken down into anything simpler by chemical reactions. |
| Metal | An element that shares common properties such as shiny luster, conductibility and flexibility. |
| Atom | The smallest unit of an element that retains the properties of that element. |
| Nucleus | The center of an atom. |
| Proton | A particle with one unit of positive electric charge. |
| Neutron | A particle with no electric charge-neutral. |
| Electron | A smaller particle with one unit of negative electric charge each. |
| Chemically Reactive | The tendency of a substance to undergo chemical changes in a system. |
