White primary primary elections established by the Democratic party in southern states; only white voters were permitted to participate
Brown v. Board of Education a landmark U.S. Supreme Court case in which the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional
Sibley Commission created after Brown v. Board of Education; purpose was to determine how Georgia's citizens felt about integration
Civil rights the rights of citizens to political and social freedom and equality
Deep water port a port that can accommodate large, heavily-loaded ships, which may require the water to be 30 feet deep or more
Senator a politician at either the federal or state level who is a member of the senate
Governor the elected head of a state
Domestic existing or occurring inside a particular country; not foreign or international
Entrepreneur a person who operates a business, taking on greater than normal financial risks to do so
Incentive a thing that motivates or encourages a person to do something
Manufacturing to make (something) on a large scale using machinery
Income money received, especially on a regular basis, for work or through investments
Household budget an estimate of income (money in) and expenditure (money out) for a set period of time
Debt money that is owed or due; types of debt include credit cards, loans, bills, etc.
Financial management the effective management of money to accomplish specific goals
