| Term | Definition |

| Hemisphere | half of a circle, i.e. half of the earth; northern, southern, eastern, western |
| Barrier island | islands along the coast that protect the shoreline from erosion caused by wind and waves |
| Fall line | an imaginary line running east to west in Georgia where the foothills level to the plains; waterfalls occur along this line |
| Culture | a way of life shared by people in social groups which includes religion, music, traditions, way of living, etc. |
| Region | an area or division, especially part of a country or the world having definable characteristics but not always fixed boundaries |
| Geographic | based on or derived from the physical features of an area |
| Climate | general weather conditions in an area over a long period |
| Agriculture | the science or practice of farming (cultivation of the soil for the growing crops) and the rearing of animals to provide food and other products |
| Economics | the wealth and resources of a country or region, especially in terms of the production and consumption of goods and services |
| Spanish missions | Catholic missions established on Georgia's coastline; their purpose was to spread the Catholic religion as well help Spain colonize the area |
| Philanthropy | the desire to promote the welfare of others by the donation of money to causes or institutions |
| Goods and services | goods are items that can be touched, such as books, salt, shoes, concrete; services are activities provided by other people, such as doctors, lawn care workers, dentists, waiters, etc. |
| Preamble | a preliminary or introductory statement that sometimes states the purpose of or justification for a document |
| Grievance | a real or imagined wrong or cause for complaint or protest, especially unfair treatment |
| Declaration | a formal statement or announcement |
| Technology | machinery and equipment developed from the application of scientific knowledge |
