QuestionAnswer
What is biomass? The total quantity or weight of organisms in a given area or volume.
What is photosynthesis? When light energy from the sun is changed into a chemical energy. The process plants use to make food.
What are the raw materials for photosynthesis? Carbon Dioxide and Water.
What are the 3 factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis? Darkness, Dim light and bright light.
What is the process that plants undergo at night? Respiration
What is chlorophyll? A coloured substance, produced by a plant which is needed for photosynthesis. It absorbs energy light from the sun to make photosynthesis happen.
What is the glucose produced in photosynthesis used for? 1. respiration 2. making other substances that act as stores of energy (eg. starch) 3. making new materials for growth
What is cellulose used for in plants? To make cell walls.
What is fats used for in plants? Cell membranes
What are proteins used for in plants? Growth and Repair.
