The Cold War Vocab

TermDefinition
Socialism An Economic system where all members of a society share equally in the work and the goods produced.
Capitalism An Economic system based on private ownership and production for the purpose of making a profit.
Communism A Political system where the state controls the economy and a single party holds power.
Democracy A Political system where the leaders are chosen by the people to represent them and make the laws.
Mixed Economy Some parts of the system, such as education and/or healthcare are provided by the government and available free to all citizens.
Marxism (developed by Karl Marx) an Economic and Political system based on the belief that throughout history, the ruling class has taken advantage of the working class.
