Investor Someone who puts money into a project in order to earn more money
Shares of stock equal parts of ownership in a company. (the person who owns the most stock controlls the company)

Proprietors nobles who used their own money to start colony
Indentured Servants People who work for a family or company for seven years in order to pay for their trip to the new world
The Lost Colony The first attempt at English colonization of the new world. They attempted to settle on the island of Roanoke. The colony mysteriously disappeared. No one knows what happened.

Puritans The first settlers of Massachusetts colony. Looking for religious freedom

Ann Hutchinson A Puritan woman who was banished for Boston for wanting to interpret the Bible her own way.

Middle Passage The name for the journey of slave ships from Africa to the new world.
