Patriot A colonist who was against British rule and supported the rebel cause in the American colonies.
Loyalist A person who remained loyal to the British king.
Neutral Not choosing a side in a disagreement.
Inflation An economic condition which results in an increase in the price of goods.
Profiteering Charging an extra high price for a good or service.
Veteran A person who has served in the military.
Enlist To sign up or join.
Mercenary A soldier who serves for pay in the military of a foreign nation.
Campaign A series of military actions carried out for a certain goal.
Turning Point An event that causes an important change.
Negotiate To try to reach an agreement among different people.
Civilian A person who is not in the military.
Traitor Someone who acts against his or her own government.
Abolitionist A person who wanted to end slavery.
Abolish To end.
Territory Land that belongs to a nation but is not a state and is not represented in the national government.
Ordinance A law or set of laws.
