Constitution Week Celebration

QuestionAnswer
Bill of Rights A written document of the peoples rights and freedoms.
Federalism It makes makes all the branches of government equal and gives the states power.
Confederacy The Southern states wanted to break away from the Northers states because they thought that the laws were unfair. That was what they called themselves during the Civil War.
Articles of Confederation It was the first form of government that the U.S. had. The First Continental Congress wrote it and it took 5 years to ratify.
Monarchy Where the people that rule the country are part of a blood line. There is no voting and there is a pope. England was a monarchy, and the colonists didn't like taxation without representation.
Unitarianism Christian doctrine that stresses individual freedom of belief and rejects the Trinity.
Constitution The form of government that we are under right now. It makes stability in the government and limits the powers of the government.
Separation of powers It makes all the powers equal and doesn't let one power grow over the rest.
Checks and Balances It establishes the seperation of poweres in the American government.
Legislative The branch of the government which houses the senate and the House of Representatives. The people vote on their representatives.
Judicial The branch that has the court system whare people vote in their judges.
Executive The branch of government that holds the preident and his cabinet.
Citizenship When you have rights, privileges, an duties. You have a character that is viewed as a member od the society.
Amendments The minor chances to the Constitution.
Congress The national legislative body of the U.S. It was estalished by the Constitution in 1787.
Senate A assembaly of the legislative branch that was 2 reps. from each state that are voted in.
House of Representitives An assembaly of the legislative branch that has the amount of reps. based on the population of the state.
