What character traits describe Ebenezer Scrooge? When the first ghost, Jacob Marley, his former partner, appears to him, Scrooge is understandably terrified. Throughout the experience, he becomes no less afraid, but also is, at first, resistant to their points of view, trying to justify his own behavior
He remains frightened of the ghosts, but in the end, he sees their messages and implores them to help him change.
