Hydrolase subclasses Esterase Lipase Peptidase Phosphatase
Esterase Hydrolyzes ester to form alcohol + acid
Lipase Hydrolyzes ester of fatty acids and glycerols
Peptidase hydrolyzes peptide bond
Phosphatase Hydrolyzes esters of phosphdiesters results in inorganic phosphate
Isomerase action form one isomer from another ex. aldehyde --> ketone
Isomerase subtypes Mutase Racemase
Mutase shifts group from one place to another (isomerase)
Racemase changes chiral molecules to its mirror image form (isomerase)
Ligase action joins two molecules always couple with ATP hydrolysis
Ligase subtypes Carboxylase Synthetase
Carboxylase links molecule with CO2 (ligase)
synthetase links two molecules together (ligase)
Lyase action Forms or breaks molecules between C-O C-C or C-N bond
Lyase subtypes Hydratase Synthase
Hydratase Uses water to break/form C-O bond (lyase)
