·Although the South reunited with the North, bitter feelings remained between the North and the South. · This was the costliest war it took thousands of human lives and destroying its surroundings.

Fugitive Slave Act (Comp of 1850): declared that any federal official who did not arrest a runaway slave liable to pay a fine Election Lincoln: southerners angered b/c Repubs no slavery in new territories.11 states split from Union & made Confederacy. ·Raid Harper Ferry: slave rebel led by John Brown in which 17 people set to raid arsenal & use it to capture town,failed & hanged for treason ·Dred Scott: tried since he wasnt in slave state should be free, Supreme Court: slaves property, not humans.
