Battle of Atlanta Sherman(Union) attacked Johnston(Confederate) and pushed him back to Atlanta, which caused Johnston to be replaced by Hood. Hood failed and the railroads were destroyed, causing atlanta to also be destroyed.
March to the Sea Sherman moved from Atlanta to Savannah destroying all economic and military structures in his path. This ultimately seperated the confederate forces.

Sharecropping Owners of land provided workers with land, a house, and tools to farm. Usually had little to no money
Tenant farmers Had their own supplies and usually made more money than sharecroppers
