Jane Addams was a strong social reformer but also had an impact on education reforms as well during the progressive era. 2
She was an advocate not only women, but immigrants, poor, and African Americans. She was one person who shaped our daily life today. 3
Why Jane Addams has an interest in social and educational reforms? • Was a feminist, which is why one of her main goals was suffrage for women. • believer in peace and worked to maintain it • Wanted to eliminate poverty to better the nation. 4

Why social and educational reforms are of interest to the country? • By eliminating poverty it could eliminate crime. • Child labor caused health problems for children and kept them from education. 6
• By letting women and African Americans vote it gave a broader spectrum for what the people wanted. • Jobs that were rarer because of requirements could be filled due to better schooling. 7
My vision for the long-term progress and impact of social and educational reforms will have on the country. • Less prejudice will be taken on racial or gender background. • Women’s position in society will increase in importance and amount. 8
• Inspections on labor and working facilities will increase as Americas increase for sanitation does. • Demand for education before entering the work force will continue to increase and will be a necessity before working 9
