Federal Government the basic idea taht unites all Americans under one national
Constitution the plan for the federal government.It describes the rights that people in the U.S. have.
Republic a form of government in which people elect representatives to govern the country.
Legislative Branch the law making branch of government
Executive Branch a branch of government whose main job is to see that the laws passed by the legislative branch are carried out.
Judicial Branch a branch of the government whose main job is to see that laws are carried out fairly
Checks and Balances a system that gives each branch of government different powers so that each branch can keep powers of the others from becoming too great.
Veto to reject a bill and to try to stop it from becoming a law.
