| What is a cognate? | Words in different languages that look alike. They are pronounced differently but have the same meaning in French and English. |

| What does "no diphthongs" mean? | Don't draw out your vowel sounds. Don't drop your jaw and cut the vowel sounds short. "bay" = "be". |
