DSL | Acronym for digital subscriber line; type of digital technology that provides high-speed Internet connections using regular copper telephone lines |
E-commerce | Short for electronic commerce, a business transaction that occurs over an electronic network such as the Internet |

FTP | Short for File Transfer Protocol, an Internet Standard that permits file uploading and downloading with other computers on the Internet |

IP Address | A number that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to the Internet |

Link | Built-in connection to another related Webpage or part of a Web page; Short for hyperlink |
Netiquette | short for Internet etiquette, the code of acceptable behaviors uses should follow while on the Internet |
Plug-In | Program that extends the capability of a browser; often used to enhance multimedia |
Portal | Web site that offers a variety of Internet services from a single, convenient location |
RSS | (2.0) Specification that content aggregators use to distribute content to subscribers; also known as "Really Simple Syndication" |
Search Engine | Program that finds Web sites, Web pages, images, videos, news and other information related to a specific topic |
Streaming | Process of transferring data in a continuous and even flow |
Uploading | Process of transferring documents, graphics and other objects from a computer to a sever on the Internet |
URL | Unique address for a Web page |
VOIP | Technology that allows users to speak to other users over the Internet |
Web 2.0 | refers to Web sites that allow users to modify Web Site content |
Web Browser | App software that allows users to access and view web pages |
Wi-Fi | A broadband Internet connection that uses radio signals |
Wiki | Collaborative Web site that allows users to create, add to, modify, or delete the Web site content via their Web browser |
