Patriot | an American colonist who favored American Independence |
Effigy | a mocking figure representing an unpopular individual |
Preamble | The introduction to a formal document that often tells why the document was written |
Repeal | To cancel an act or law |
Rebellion | Open defiance of authority |
Boycott | To refuse to buy items in order to show disapproval or force acceptance of one's terms |
Propaganda | ideas or information intentionally spread to harm or help a cause |
Civil Disobedience | The use of nonviolence protests to challenge a government or it's law |
Committees of Correspondence | an organisation that spreads political ideas and information through the colonies |
Writs of Assistance | a court document allowing customs officers to enter any location to search for smuggled goods |
Resolution | an official expression of opinion by a group |
Minuteman | during the Revolutionary era, a civilian sworn to be ready to fight with only one minute's notice |
