Regions | areas of uniqe characteristics. Three types: Formal, functional, and perceptual. |
Formal Regions | Homogeneous or uniform. Frequently used to outline governmental, phsical, cultural, and economic areas. |
Functional Regions | Defined by a particular set of activites or interactions. |
Perceptual Regions | Also known as vernacular regions. Constructed by peoples perceptions, therefore they vary from person to person. |
Possibilism | The natural environment merely serves to limit the range of choices available to a culture. |
Environmental Determinism | Human behaivor, individually and collectively is affected by the physical evironment. |
