| Bail | property or money given to a court to guarantee that a person will appear in court |

| verdict | decision in a court trial |
| misdemeanor | minor crimes |

| arraignment | when an accused person goes to court to enter a plea |

| Judicial Review | the power of the Supreme Court to determine if a law is unconstitutional |
| unconstitutional | not in accord with the constitution |
| Criminal Case | Case in which a person is accused of a crime. |
| civil case | case involving dispute over property or money |
| due process of law | fair application of the law to one's case(being treated fairly by the government) |
| warrant | Court document for arrest or to search someone's property |
| Plea | when the accused says they are guilty or innocent |
