| What is civic Participation? | It is ordinary ways you and I involve ourselves on the process of Government. It can be cleaning parks, writing a letter to your mayor, principal, Governor or boycotting Wal-Mart. |
| People involve themselves in civic participation for 3 reasons. What are they? | 1= A greater fairness within society ( protest against slavery), 2= Greater individual freedom (abolitionist who helped with the Underground Railroad), 3= A greater security for its members. |
| Name some groups in history who did civic participation and explain what they did. | Sons of Liberty= Boston Tea Party, Committees of Correspondence= wrote letters to keep colonies informed about Patriots fighting British. Abolitionists who helped write stories against slavery (Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe) |
| How does FRANCHISE show civic participation? | Franchise means the right to vote. Another word for voting is Suffrage. This is one of the most important and direct ways we can change government. |
