Age of Exploration | Began in 1400s when countries sent explorers from Europe to the Americas to create colonies |
Cultural diffusion | Occurs when one culture influences another |
Columbian Exchange | The exchange or trade of goods and other things such as diseases between the European explorers and the Native Americans in North and South America |
Triangle Trade | Exchange of goods between Africa, the Americas and Europe |
Mercantilism | The idea that colonies should be used to make the mother country money and help it get more power |
Tax | A fee people are required to pay a government when buying things |
Navigation Act of 1763 | Forced the colonies to sell their goods in England |
Proclamation of 1763 | A proclamation by England that said the colonists could not settle past the Appalachian Mountains |
Watershed event | When something happens that changes things so they can never go back to the way they were |
3 G's | Stands for God (religious freedom), Gold (money or wealth), and Glory (to be famous) |
