Term | Definition |
Profit | Money gained from the sale of a good or service after all the costs needed to make the sale are subtracted from the amount received. |
resource | a source or supply of a useful material (such as fur, wood or oil) |
fur trader | a term used for a European or American involved in the fur trade. Often, it refers to a person in charge of the trading post. |
pelt | an animal skin with the fur on it. |
hunter | a person who spent most of their time hunt ion or trapping animals for food or pelts. |
guide | a person hired to help voyageurs and fur trader find their way through unfamiliar lands. |
interpreter | a person who translates for people who speak a different language |
clerk | a man who managed the day to dat business of a fur trading post |
voyageur | a workman who performed the physical labor of the fur trade, including transporting beaver pelts and trade good by canoe. |
