Term | Definition |
Repetitions (reps) | How many times you do an exercise. |
Sets | A group of repetitions |
Interval | A workout in which exercise and recovery are mixed. |
Recovery | Resting between workouts or exercises |
Overload | Working hard enough to improve fitness |
Progression | Gradually increasing intensity and amount of work. |
Warm-up | Easy, low-impact activities to ease body into more intense activities |
Cool-down | Easy low-impact activities after exercise to prevent soreness, and return body to recovery state. |
Lifetime sports | Activities that you can do throughout life, requiring little equipment or few or no other players. Examples: Cycling, Swimming dancing, skiing, basketball, and hiking |
