Question | Answer |
Candiadate | the prospective recipient of an award or honor, or a person seeking or being considered for some kind of position |
polling place | polling station is where voters cast their ballots in elections |
Plurality | the most votes for any choice in an election, but not necessarily a majority |
Recall | a procedure by which voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before his or her term has ended |
Coalitions | two or more parties joined to gain a majority |
Popular Vote | the vote for a U.S. presidential candidate made by the qualified voters, as opposed to that made by the electoral college |
Referendum | a direct vote in which an entire electorate is asked to either accept or reject a vote |
Initiative | citizens propose a law |
Split Ticket | ballot cast for candidates of two or more political parties |
Third Party | is used in the United States for any and all political parties in the United States other than one of the two major parties |
Nominate | a person nominated to do something |
Campaign | try to get elected |
Precint | a geograhpic area with a certain number of voters |
Platform | something someone stands on |
Non Partisan | non political |
Electorate | the people that vote |
Caucus | a political meeting |
Primary Election | the first election |
Straight Ticket | same party members |
Electoral College | a group of people named by each state legislature to select the president and vice president |
