What is a remote or online backup?   Backup done to a remote server over the Internet

What is mirroring?   Storing a database on multiple servers so if one fails the others can still be used without data loss (sometimes called RAID system)

What type of backup is needed for large database systems and why?   Mirroring as they can't be taken offline for periodic backup and they can't afford to lose any data
