Second Continental Congress   A committee brought together from each colony to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict with Great Britain.

Battle of Bunker Hill   A battle that had the British attacking 2 forts above 2 hills over looking the city of Boston. In the end the Continental Army retreats only having lost half as much as the British's loses (British lost 1000 troops).

Impose   To establish or to keep authority.

Independence   The act or state of being independent.  
🗑
policies   Are sets of rules usually for the wellness of ones self.

Olive Branch Petition   A final petition given to King George the 3rd by the American 2nd Continental Congress to end the war and find a peaceful resolution to the conflicts with Great Britain.

Thomas Paine   A patriot whose arguments helped persuade thousands of colonists in to go for independence in a fiery pamphlet titled common sense.

Common Sense   A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine talking about why it will be good going for independence.  
🗑
Declaration of Independence   A document that was tasked to be written by the committee of five to write out a draft. This document also states the Americas 13 colonies as free from British rule.

Thomas Jefferson   A member of the second Continental Congress, who was tasked with writing the first draft of the Declaration of independence.

Natural rights   The statement that says all people are all born equal and are entitled to basic rights.

Fundamental rights   The rights of us human beings in general, all equal, rights in freedom and religion.  
🗑
Independence day   The day when we celebrate that the declaration was released, marking us as a free country (13 States).
