Thomas Paine   Thomas Paine was an American writer as well as one of the Founding Fathers of the USA. His famous book "common sense" as well as his other writings influenced the American Revolution as well as help pave a way for the declaration of independence.

Common Sense   Common Sense was a book written by Thomas Paine. It advocated independence from Great Britain. It also advocated for a democratic republic.

Declaration of Independence   The declaration of independence was adopted by the second continental congress on July 4, 1776. When it was adopted, the 13 colonies severed their political connections to Great Britain. The Declaration summarized the colonists motivation for freedom.

Thomas Jefferson   Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd US president. Before he was president he a draftsman for the declaration of independence. He was also the first Secretary of State.

Fundamental Rights   Fundamental rights are a group of rights that have been recognized by the Supreme Court as requiring a high degree of protection from government encroachment.

Independence Day   We celebrate Independence Day on the Fourth of July every year. We think of July 4, 1776, as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the US as an independent nation.
