Second Continental Congress   It was a convention for the delegates from the Thirteen Colonies that started meeting up the spring of 1775 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

George Washington   The commander in chief of the continental army, that soon after became the first president in the united states.

Continental Army   The Continental Army was formed by the Second Continental Congress after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War by the colonies that became the United States of America

Battle of Bunker Hill   The first actual battle in the Revolutionary War, that was fought nearby Boston, on June 1775.

Independence   Self-ruled, on their own, by themselves.

Olive Branch Petition   Adopted by the Second Continental Congress on July 5th, 1775, and signed in July 8th to avoid starting war with the British and the 13 colonies again.

Thomas Paine   Thomas Paine was an English-born American political activist, philosopher, political theorist and revolutionary.

Common Sense   A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine, to fight for independance from the british.

Declaration of Independence   A document written by Thomas Jefferson, and the committee of five, to get independent from the british.

Thomas Jefferson   A founding father, who was a part of the committee of five, and who wrote the Declaration of Independence.

Natural Rights   The rights written in the Declaration of Independence as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as rights they naturally have.

fundamental rights   The rights to liberty, the rights to due process of law the rights to freedom of movement, the rights to freedom of thought.

Independence Day   The 4th of July; the day the declaration of independence was adopted into the 13 colonies
