Byte   data equal to either seven or eight bits depending if it needs error correction (parity) - the smallest measurement size listed in operating systems.

Cookie   a small amount of text-only data saved on your computer while you browse a certain website.

Reboot   the process of restarting a working computer using hardware (e.g. a power button) instead of software. - sometimes necessary after installing a software program

Firewall   a software utility or hardware device that acts as a filter for data entering or leaving a network or computer.

Spam   slang commonly used to describe junk e-mail on the Internet.

Modem   a hardware device that connects a computer or router to a broadband network.
