Visual Impairment | Any impairment of vision that, even with correction, affects educational performance.

Traumatic Brain Injury | An acquired injury to the brain caused by external physical force that results in total or partial functional disability of psychosocial impairments. This does not include injuries that are congenital, generative, or birth induced.

Speech/Language Impairment | Communication disorders that affect the educational performance in an adverse manner, including stuttering, impaired articulation, language impairments, or voice impairments.

Specific Learning Disability | A disorder in one or more of the basic psychological processes involved in understanding or in using language, and may manifest itself in an imperfect ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or do math.

Other Health Impairment | Related to diseases or chronic health conditions, a student with limited strength, vitality, or alertness that adversely affects educational performance.

Orthopedic Impairment | A physical impairment which adversely affects educational performance.

Multiple Disabilities | Combination of concomitant impairments that causes severe educational conditions that can't be accommodated in special education programs for only one disability.

Mental Retardation | Individuals with significant subaverage general intellectual functioning concurrently with deficits in adaptive behavior.

Hearing Impairment | A condition that may adversely affect educational performance and includes deafness and hard of hearing.

Emotional Disturbance/Behavioral Disorder | Refers to conditions that exhivbit two or more of the following:

Deaf Blindness | Includes the combination of both auditory and visual disabilities that are the cause of severe communication deficits and other learning problems.

Autism | A syndrome related to neurological function that is evidenced by deficits in social interactions, communications, and patterns of behavior--differentiated by age of onset and severity of symptoms.
