Quiz yourself by thinking what should be in each of the black spaces below before clicking on it to display the answer.

Definition
Block Format   All parts of a letter including paragraphs begin at the left margin

Return Address   The location of the person sending the letter. Date is typed under it.

Letter Address   the location to which correspondence is being sent  
🗑
Salutation   The greeting of the letter; keyed a DS or Double Space below the letter address

Body   The paragraphs that make up the main message

Complimentary close   The ending or the farewell of the letter. Sincerely yours

Signature line   the signature of the originator (you) of the message that is signed between the complimentary close and the writer's name. Should be written in cursive and black ink

Name of Writer   the author of the document; keyed a QS or quadruple space below the complimentary close

Open punctuation   no punctuation (: and , ) following the salutation or the complimentary close

Margins   2" top margin, 1" left margin, 1" right margin, 1" bottom margin
