Boston Massacre   March 5, 1770 -Conflict between colonists and 10 “Redcoats” -5 dead -British soldiers are arrested but acquitted(two guilty of manslaughter) -Used as Propaganda: to rally anti-British support -Committees of Correspondence formed to spread the word

Tea Act   (1773) -Gave the British East India Company a monopoly on all tea imports to America

Boston Tea Party   December 16, 1773 -Protest of Tea Act -At midnight, Boston Sons of Liberty (dressed up as Mohawks) boarded English ships and threw 342 chests of tea overboard (worth $1 million in today’s money) -Civil Disobedience
