What is the meaning of Grid? Pattern of imaginary lines that circles the globe, east-west and north-south.
What is the meaning of Latitude? lines on a globe that go around it. The distance between north and south of Earth's equator.
What is the meaning of Parallels? Lines that never cross.
What is the meaning of Equator? Imaginary line that circles the globe halfway between the north and south poles.
What is the meaning of Degrees? Parallels measure distance from each other.
What is the meaning of Minutes? Degrees are further divided into minutes.
What is the meaning of Longitude? Lines on a globe that go up and down.
What is the meaning of Meridians? Lines of Longitude.
What is the meaning of Prime Meridian? They measure distance east and west. Imaginary line that runs through Greenwich, England.
What is the meaning of Hemisphere? Divided into 2 halves, Northern and Southern.
What is the meaning of Continents? Large land masses that is part of Earth's crust. Geographers identify seven continents.
What is the meaning of Map? A flat drawing that shows all or part of earth's surface.
What is the meaning of Cylindrical Projections? Based on a cylinder wrapped around the globe.
What is the meaning of Conic Projections? Based on a cone placed over the globe.
What is the meaning of Flat Plane Projection? Based on a plane touching the globe at one point, such as at the north or south pole.
What is the meaning of Title? Show's what the subject of the map is.
What is the meaning of Compass Rose? Has arrows that point to all four principal directions?
What is the meaning of Scale? Gives distances in miles and kilometers.
What is the meaning of Legend? or key, explains what the symbols on the map represent.
What is the meaning of Locator Map? Shows where in the world the area on the map is located.
What is the meaning of Political Maps? Shows the major political features of a region.
What is the meaning of Physical Maps? Shows the major physical features of a region.
What is the meaning of Special-Purpose Maps? Focus on 1 special to pick, such as climate, resources, or population.
What is the meaning of 5 themes of Geography? Location, Place, Regions, Movement,and Human-Environment Interactions.
What is the meaning of 6 Essential Elements? The world in spatial terms, Human Systems, Places and Regions, Environments and Society Physical Systems, and Uses of Geography.
What is the meaning of Geography? Study of the world its people and the landscapes they create.
What is the meaning of Landscape? all the human and physical features the make it unique.
What is the meaning of Region? a part of the world that has one or more common features that distinguish it from surrounding areas.

What is the meaning of Satellite Images? Images that geographer get from space.
What is the meaning of Absolute Location? A specific description like a street address.
What is the meaning of Relative Location? General description of where a place lies Example: Canada is North of United States.
What is the meaning of Physical Geography? Study of the world's physical features landforms, bodies of water, climates, soils and plants.
What is the meaning of Human Geography? Study of the world's people, communities and landscapes.
What is the meaning of Cartography? Science of making maps.
What is the meaning of Hydrology? Study of water on earth.
What is the meaning of Meteorology? Study of weather and what causes it.
