Intro Color Terms

QuestionAnswer
what does Monochromatic mean? all the tints,tones or shades of a single hue
what does Complementary mean? pairs of colors that are an opposite hue and are on opposite sides of the color wheel
what does Analogous mean? 3 or more colors that are near each other on the color wheel
what are the primary colors? red, blue, and yellow
what is a hue? another name for a color
what is the color wheel? shows how color is related to each other
what is intensity? the brightness or dullness of a color
what is a secondary color? a color made by mixing two primary colors in a given color space
what is a tertiary color? a color made by mixing either one primary color with one secondary color, or two secondary colors, in a given color space
what is a tint? a value lighter than that on the color wheel. adding white
what is a shade? a value darker than that on a color wheel. add black
