Intro Color Terms

What is Hue? The name given to a color
What does intensity mean? The brightness and dullness of a color
What are three components of the color wheel? Intermediate, primary, secondary
What are the primsry colors? Red, Blue, Yellow
What are the secondary colors? Violet, Green, Orange
What are the tertiary colors? Red-Violet, Blue-Violet, Yellow-Green, Yellow-Orange, Red-Orange
How do you make primary colors? Red, Blue, and Yellow would create other color
How do you make secondary colors? Red-Blue= Violet, Blue-Yellow= Green,Yellow-Red= Orange
How do you make intermediate or Tertiary Colors? You mix equal parts of one primary and one secondary
What does the word tint means? A lighter value like white
What does the word shade mean? A darker value like black
What does monochromatic Harmony/Scheme mean? One hue with different tints and shades
What does complimentary harmonny/scheme mean? 2 colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel
What does analogous harmony/scheme mean? 3 or more colors next to each other on the color wheel
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a monochromatic harmony scheme? six colors
How many colors from the colors wheel are represented in a complimentary harmony scheme? six colors
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in analagus harmony scheme? six colors
What colors are considered warm colors? Orange, Red, Yellow
What colors are considered cold colors? Blue, Green, Violet
What colrs are considered neutral colors? Tan, Brown, Whites
What colors are on both sides of the color blue on the color wheel? Blue-Violet, Blue-Green
What colors are on both sides of the color yellow on the color wheel? Yellow-Green, Yellow-Orange
What colors are on both sides of the color red on the color wheel? Red-Orange, Red-Violet
