Intro Color Terms

What is Hue? Another word for Color
What does intensity mean? The brightness or dullness of a color
What are the three components of the color wheel? Primary, Seconday, and Intermediate (teritiary)
What are the primary colors? Red, Blue, and Yellow
What are the secondary colors? Violet, Green, and Orange
What are the tertiary colors? Red violet, Blue violet, Blue green, Yellow green, Yellow orange, and Red orange
How do you make primary colors? You cannot make these colors by mixing any other colors
How do you make secondary colors? Mixing Primary colors with one another
How do you make tertiary/intermediate colors? Mixing one primary and one secondary color together
What does the word tint mean? a value lighter than that on a color wheel
What does the word shade mean? a value darker than that on a color wheel
What color is added to create a tint? white
What color is added to create a shade? black
What does a Monochromatic Harmony/Scheme mean? one hue with many different tints and shades
What does a Complimentary Harmony/Scheme mean? two colors that are directly across from eachother on a color wheel
What does a Analogous Harmony/Scheme mean? three or more colors next to eachother on a color wheel
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a Monochromatic Harmony/Scheme? One
How many colors from the color wheel are represented in a Complimentary Harmony/Scheme? Two
How many colors fro the color wheel are represented in an Analogous Harmony/Scheme? Three or more
What colors are considered warm colors? orange, red, or yellow
What colors are considered cool colors? green, blue, and sometimes violet
What colors are considered neutral colors? tans, browns, whites
What colors are on each side of the color Blue on the color wheel? Blue Violet and Blue Green
What colors are on each side of the color Yellow on the color wheel? Yellow Orange and Yellow Green
What colors are on each side of the color Red on the color wheel? Red Orange and Red Violet
