Color Terms

How do you percieve white? it is reflected
How do you percieve black? it is absorbed
What is hue? is a reference to a color itself
What are the primary colors? the three basic colors used to create all other colors
What are the secondary colors? the three colors that are made from equal parts of two primary colors
What are the tertiary colors? when you mix equal parts of one primary and one secondary color
What is a saturated color? where there is no white or black, just pure color
What three groups make up the color wheel? primary, secondary, and tertiary
What is a tint?? a saturated color mixed with pure white color
What is a shade? saturated color mixed with pure black color
What are three colors that are considered to be warm colors? red, orange, and yellow
What are three colors that are considered to be cool colors? blue, green, and violet
What are the five neutral colors? black, grey, white, brown, and tan
What are the six types of color harmonies? monochromatic, analogous, complementary, triadic, split complementary, neutral
What is a monochromatic color harmony? when tints and shades of only one color are used
What is an analougus color harmony? using three or more colors that are next to each other on the color wheel
What is a complementary color harmony? two colors that are directly across from each other on the color wheel
What is a triadic color harmony? three colors that are located within equal distance of each other on the color wheel
What is a split complementary scheme? any color and two colors located next to that colors compliment
What is a neutral color scheme? any combinations of whites, browns, and tans
